On March 16th, 2022 7-year-old Payton Lanza from Mohnton, PA was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer that begins in the cells that form bones.  Chemotherapy began right away on March 30th, however as the tumor had developed in her right femur and traveled down into her knee and growth plate, Payton had to undergo a specialized leg amputation and rotationplasty surgery on June 8th.  The rotationplasty surgery is a remarkable procedure which turns her foot into a new knee and makes it possible for her to wear a prosthetic leg.  Payton celebrated her 8th birthday on July 31st, loves the family’s French Bulldogs, the color blue, ice cream and swimming.  She will continue her chemotherapy regimen until the new year, and this fall she is going to become a big sister!
